Feb Cybercrop "Challenge 5" - Step x Step
by Tash Allen
Love Notes storage box
My inspiration for this came from the movie Bride Wars which I went and saw last weekend - in it the 2 young girls who grow up to be the characters played by Kate Hudson & Anne Hathaway are obsessed with the perfect wedding and keep this box stuffed full of wedding stuff - dreaming about their wedding one day. They even had it scrapped in their gorgeous child-like way. It remined me of having a shoebox shoved in the top of a cupboard somewhere stuffed full of old memeories. This sure does bring the romantic out in me.
So my challenge to you is to create yourself a box to hold these special memories, be they loves notes from your partner or even drawings or notes from the kids - whatever you like!
Gather your supplies:
the box!
PP to cover - I used 3 full sheets for mine.
stickers and alphas of your choice (and anything you like to add decoration)
adhesive of your choice. What you use will depend on what surface your box has - mine was glossy so I used double sided tape - and lots of it - as Mod Podge would have been way too fiddly.
paint or ink for swiping over edges
Step 1: Measure your box and cut the PP into sections and adhere to the box.
If your box has a name plate on the front like mine,
here's a super easy way to cut that section...
step 1: ink the name plate generously with a non-permanent ink
step 2: place the PP section (that you have precut to the correct size) over the inked name plate, right side out, and press firmly.
step 3: the ink will have marked the shape on the rear side of the PP - cut this out carefully, making sure to retain the inner section which, once trimmed down a touch will fit into the middle section! A perfect fit!
Step 2: To cover your lid, again measure the lid and cut the PP into appropriate sized sections.
Adhere to the sides of the lid, overlapping to the rear sides for a seamless finish.
Then add sections of PP to the top of the lid - this will be your main area for decorating. Don't worry too much about those overlapped pieces of PP - this is easily disguised with a swipe of ink or paint or a border sticker.
Step 3: Pretty up the top of the lid with your chosen alphas, stickers or whatever else you like!
You can use stickers to cover those joins in the PP - the Basic Grey elements stickers are great for this.
Wrap them around the the inside of the lid for a seamless finish.
You can then outline the stickers if you wish with a black marker for more definition.
Step 4: Once your box is decorated, take your ink pad or paint and swipe over all exposed edges to disguise any rough bits.
I used a Staz On ink pad for this (not the paint in the supplies picture as I decided I wanted a cleaner look)
Optional extra - I have decorated up a set of dividers that came with this box - this is totally up to you if you wish to do this or not. I thought it was a good way to use up the few scraps I had left over as well (and you all know how I love to do that! )
I hope you have enjoyed this as much as I did creating it!
products:
Basic Grey Bittersweet range of PP and elements stickers
Basic Grey white chocolate chipboard alphas
Staz On ink pad - Jet Black
Making Memories Kraft stickers
Upload into the Step x Step folder in the gallery by midnight Sunday night.

This is awesome Tash! Love the way you did the cutout for the label, just too clever!
I have a box for each of my girls, with bits & pieces in it from when they were babies - never got around to decorating them though, so this is the perfect step-by-step for me! _________________
