52 Pickup - Challenge #2 by Deanne

Hi everyone!!!

Welcome to challenge #2 - We Are Going Green!.

Silly Miss Nic scheduled me for this challenge while I'm away on holidays! And Miss Nic went away too! I didn't bring any of my stash with me, so I haven't been able to prepare a new example for you. Anyway, I've still been able to set a challenge and here it is...

We all have so many bits and pieces laying around. Scraps of cardstock, patterned paper, ribbon, an odd rub-on that we don't know what to do with.

My challenge will help you to use up some of those excess scraps, and instead of them heading to the bin, we will be helping the environment and going GREEN.

Your challenge is to make 3 cards. You can use one piece of new cardstock to make the bases. Check out the card template here which shows you how to cut your cardstock into 3.

Now here's the catch. I'm also going to get you to put something GREEN on your cards. Lime green, dark green, mossy green, it really doesn't matter, as long as it's GREEN!

I bet all of you have a piece of green ribbon, some green brads or eyelets, a green button perhaps that has been hiding in your stash waiting to be used for a very long time.

When you load your cards into the challenge folder, be sure to state what scraps/old bits you have used..

If you are new to making cards, have never made one before, or a bit unsure of where to start, be sure to check out the fabbo LSBS Card Sketches section HERE where you will find plenty of ideas. Using the card sketches is the same as using a layout sketch - just let the sketch inspire you.

Since I've been away, and unable to prepare a new example for you, here are some samples of cards I have previously made using left overs.

With a little imagination, you what you can do with scraps and small bits of cardstock and/or pattened papers.

Layer them to create a grungy background . . .

Make a paper quilt for someone special. . .

More layers for a bright birthday greeting. . .

Punch small shapes from small scraps to make a pretty card. . .

Have fun!!!! Load up your cards into the 52 Pickup Challenge 2 folder in the gallery.

Oh, this one is cool Deanne - I can do this about 400 times over, I think, with all the scraps I have!

Annnnddd this counts me out.

I dont make cards. . I tried once, did not do well with it.

Can I make a page with scraps and green? Will it still count, or is this specifically cards?

Dani I know you can do this....just keep it simple and you will be awesome...think about it as 3 little card shaped layouts....even use photos if you want....

Yep, definitely needs to be cards.

As the gals said, check out the card sketches. Just think of them as mini scrapbook pages Wink

I'm not much of a card maker but I will have a go. I would love to try this challenge with a LO too.Very Happy Even if it doesn't count towards the challenge I think I will still have a go anyway, I do love the idea for this challenge Deanne, well done.

Sounds great - not tonight though I'm exhausted Smile will have it done by the end of the week.

C'mon Dani - I used to be the same but once I did one and then kept going it's fun...

As Bella said just think of it as 3 tiny LO's - you might just surprise yourself.

I'm SO in. I've just started making cards for all the birthdays coming up, so will fit in nicely. Love green too.

Excellent challenge.

Dani - no harm in giving it a go. I made my first cards for Christmas just gone and they turned out alright. There are heaps of great cards here to get inspired from - have a look at the DT card work.

That I think is why I did not try again

I really dont have anyone to give cards to ((my family throws them out a week after birthdays/christmas)) and if I enjoy it.. then I will be spending more money again.

I will give it a go for this challenge.. but I cant guarantee they will be any good Razz
