Christmas tree centrepiece.
By Tash Allen
Here I have turned a Christmas Tree Swivel album into an eye-catching centrepiece for our Christmas table
Gather your supplies:
Kasier Craft Swivel Christmas tree album
6 half sheets of patterned paper. (I used Basic Grey Figgy Pudding which is doulde sided, this allowed the 12 surfaces on the tree to all be covered with a different pattern PP) You need the equivalent of 3 full sheets of PP to cover the tree.
Paint for painting the edges of the tree. Try the Kaiser Craft paint, great value.
Kindy Glitz
Ribbons of your choice - you'll need about 2mtrs each colour - (or you could use loose leaf rings if you like, Kasier Craft have bought out a great new range of these in some fab colours)
Mod Podge or Gel Medium or you could even use a good quality glue sticfk if you like such as Power Pritt
Basic Grey Precision File kit (or a heavy duty emery board and a pencil with sandpaper wrapped around)
Rubons, bling and any other embellishments you like.
Step 1: Take your 6 sheets of double sided paper and cut them in half. Keep 6 halves for this project, put the rest away for another project.
Step 2: Using one of the tree pieces, carefully trace the shape onto the PP as shown... you will get 2 pieces out of each 6x6.
and then cut them all out and lay out on your desk roughly the order you would like them to appear on the tree.
Step 3: Paint the edges of your Christmas tree with the colour paint of your choice. I'm a bit of a cheat when it comes to things like this, I figure it's going to get covered anyway (and probably distressed a bit so it doesn't need to be perfect... this way makes it really quick!)
Step 4: Using your preferred adhesive, glue the PP shapes onto the wooden tree shapes.
Once dry you can work away any rough or over hanging edges with a sanding file and re-drill the holes using your Precision file kit.
Step 5: Lay the tree out on the desk in one pile, all the shapes one of top of another, making sure all the holes are lining up. Take your ribbon lengths and thread through the holes, alternating ribbon colours down the 'trunk' of the tree. (this is a little bit fiddly, but have patience ) If you are using loose leaf rings, you can attach those now. Be aware though, that you will not get it as tight as I have here without ribbon.
Once you have threaded all 5 holes it will look like this
Step 6: Lay the tree out on your workspace, 3 sections each side and tie the ribbon into a knot, pulling firm as you go. Don't make it too tight or you will not be able to work the album into a free-standing tree.
Then trim the ribbon. It will look like this one the other side...
Step 7: You can then stand the tree up and open up the album and evenly space the tree sections around the centrepiece. Tie additional bits of ribbon on the loops in between each section.
Step 8: Embellish your tree as desired. I have added a rhinestone onto each tree 'branch', added some rubons, a Kaiser Craft rhinestone bauble and a 'blinged' felt star to the tree top (thanks to Mel for the rak )
Step 9: Add Kindy Glitz on all exposed painted areas of tree and put aside to dry.
All done!! And all ready for your table on Christmas Day

This tree is fabulous Tash. And so much easier to put up without kids trying to attack all the time. _________________
