52 Pick Up Challenge 51...Making your own templates
by Tracy Wyldman

If you are anything like me you are no good at drawing freehand... Rolling Eyes
And also if you are anything like me freehand is not neat enough Rolling Eyes Embarassed

So... Why not make your own templates... I do and they are super oober easy...

What you will need...
Printed images of what you would like to make a template from (I have included a flower template below)
A Laminator (or cold laminate)
A Sharp pair of scissors
(Optional) A hole punch & some link chain and a clasp

1. Find the image of something you would like to use as a template and print it out (google images is great for this Wink ).

2. Carefully cut out you image/images

3. Next warm up the laminator and when it is ready, place your printed image/images in the plastic laminating pouch, making sure that there is room around each image for cutting out.
NOTE: If you do not have a laminator, you can use "Cold Laminate" instead. Cold Laminate is similar to contact (only sturdier) and is available at the Post Office and stationery supply stores.

4. Allow to cool and carefully cut around the laminated image, allow a small amount of clear plastic between the printed image and the area you are cutting... This will reduce the risk of the layers peeling apart at a later date.

5. (Optional) If you are doing a series of images, like different size flowers, punch a hole in one of the petals and secure with some link chain and a claps. I have done this with my flower templates and I have them hanging on my tote.

If you would like the pattern below, just "right click" on the image, "save" it to your desktop and then print it out.

You can trace the images off the printed sheet, or cut them out and laminate them for later use.

So, YOUR CHALLENGE is to create/print YOUR OWN TEMPLATE, then use it to create an embellishment for a layout or card.

Here is a layout I created with a couple of templates - the large scalloped patterned paper circle and the layered flowers.

Edited to add:
TOP TIP: For those who haven't got access to a laminator (or cold laminate) - old x-ray films make great templates too!

.
Grab some old x-ray sheets and soak them in some bleach (this will remove the image) wash in warm soapy water and allow to dry.
Trace, draw and cut your image from this... These are quite strong and last for ages Wink

If you don't have any old xrays at home, ask your local doctors if they have any old ones, tell them what you want them for and they will probably be able to give you quite a few sheets

Upload your creation into the 52 Pick Up Challenge #51 Folder in the gallery Wink
